On 1 October the tourist tax halves overnight
Croatian law splits the year with a hard statutory boundary: 1 April to 30 September is the season, everything else is not. There is no shoulder band — it is a two-state switch that flips at midnight.
Trogir sits at the very top of the in-season band, charging €2.65 per person per night, the maximum the state permits. Out of season it drops to €1.33 — almost exactly half, and the steepest fall of any of the 55 municipalities in Split-Dalmatia County. Neighbouring Split charges the same €2.65 in season but stays at €1.86 outside it.
For two adults over seven nights that is €37.10 arriving on 24 September against €18.62 arriving on 1 October. Same town, same sea, and the difference was decided by a county assembly vote.

How much is the tourist tax in Trogir?
€2.65 per person per night from 1 April to 30 September, which is the maximum Croatian law allows, and €1.33 for the rest of the year. That halving is the steepest seasonal drop among the 55 municipalities in Split-Dalmatia County. Croatian law defines the season as a hard boundary with no shoulder band.
Is Trogir worth seeing?
Yes — the historic core is UNESCO-inscribed and remarkably intact, built on a small islet between the mainland and Ciovo. The cathedral of St Lawrence carries Master Radovan's portal of 1240, whose inscription calls him the best of all in this art. It is compact enough to see properly in half a day.
How much time do you need in Trogir?
Half a day covers the old town, the cathedral and the Kamerlengo fortress — the islet is only around 500 by 250 metres. An overnight is worth it to have the streets after the Split day-trippers leave, which is when the town is at its best. Two nights if you are using it as an airport base.
