The official tourist circuit descends 20 m below the streets of the 14th arrondissement (entry near Denfert-Rochereau), winds through the bone-walled galleries — bones arranged by Inspector Héricart de Thury into geometric tableaux with frequent memento mori inscriptions — and exits 1 km away on rue Rémy-Dumoncel. Capacity is hard-capped at 200 visitors underground at any moment, so the queues outside are genuinely the bottleneck (2-3 hours without a reserved ticket). Climate is irrelevant once underground: 14°C year-round, 80%+ humidity, no seasonal variation; outside above-ground waits are subject to Paris weather.
